Privacy Policy for Hindi Islamic Calendar & Namaz

Effective date: September 16, 2026

Hindi Islamic Calendar & Namaz (the "App") is developed and maintained by Hanif. This policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.

Information we collect

The App has no user account and no login, and it does not collect personal information automatically — no name, phone number, precise location, or advertising identifiers. The only personal information the App ever receives is what you choose to send us through the in-app feedback form (an optional email address, plus the message and any screenshot you submit) — see "Feedback you send" below. To understand how the App is used and to improve it, the App also collects anonymous usage analytics — see "Analytics and session replay" below.

Network requests

All calendar data is bundled inside the App, so the calendar and prayer times work offline: no network connection is needed to view dates, festivals, holidays, prayer times, or reminders. The App sends or receives data over the network in only three cases: anonymous usage analytics (described below), the daily verse content it downloads (described below), and feedback that you actively choose to submit (described below). Nothing else is transmitted, and none of it is required to use the calendar.

Analytics and session replay

To understand which features people use and to improve the App, we use PostHog, a third-party product-analytics service, as a data processor acting on our behalf. Analytics data is sent to and stored on PostHog servers located in the European Union.

The data we collect is anonymous and is not linked to your identity. It consists of:

We do not sell this data and do not use it for advertising. For details on how PostHog handles data, see posthog.com/privacy.

Prayer times and location

The App can show daily prayer times. They are calculated on your device from a location you choose in one of two ways: by picking a district or city from a list bundled in the App (no permission needed), or by allowing the App to read your device's approximate location once (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION). Location access is optional and is requested only when you tap the option to use it; you can deny it and pick a district instead. The App never requests precise (GPS-level) location. Your location, chosen district, and prayer-time adjustments are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us or to any third party. Prayer reminders and alarms are scheduled locally on your device in the same way as the festival reminders described below.

Daily verse content

The App shows a daily Qur'an verse card. The card images are published by us and downloaded by the App from our content backend, Appwrite (Appwrite Cloud, Singapore). These downloads are anonymous: the App sends no account, identifier, or personal data with them — only the request for the day's content, which necessarily includes your device's IP address, as with any internet request. Downloaded cards are cached on your device for offline viewing. If you choose to save a card to your photo gallery or share it, the App writes the image only where you direct it; on Android 12 and older, saving uses the storage permission listed below.

Holiday state

On first launch the App asks which State or Union Territory's government holidays you want to see. Your choice is stored only on your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be changed at any time from the More screen. If your state is not listed, the App offers to send us that as feedback, which is subject to the "Feedback you send" section below and is entirely optional.

Feedback you send

The App includes an optional in-app feedback form for sending a feature request, improvement idea, or bug report. It is used only when you choose to — you are never required to send feedback.

When you submit feedback, the App sends the following to our backend processor, Appwrite, where it is stored on Appwrite Cloud servers located in Singapore:

Feedback submissions are anonymous: there is no account, and no advertising or analytics identifier is attached to them. To attach a screenshot, the App opens your device's photo picker so you can select one image; on Android 13 and newer this uses the system photo picker, which needs no photo or storage permission, and the App does not access your camera. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your message or screenshots. We use feedback only to understand issues and improve the App; we do not sell it or use it for advertising. You can ask us to delete feedback you have sent by emailing the contact address below. For how Appwrite handles data, see appwrite.io/privacy.

Information stored on your device

The App stores small amounts of data locally on your device: your settings preferences (such as which reminders are turned on, your chosen district or approximate location for prayer times, prayer-time adjustments, the Hijri date adjustment, and your chosen holiday state), a cache of recently downloaded daily-verse cards, and the anonymous analytics identifier together with a short-lived queue of analytics events waiting to be sent. None of these preferences are transmitted off your device. All locally stored data is removed when you uninstall the App.

Notifications and reminders

The App can show local reminder notifications — festival reminders, week-ahead and month-ahead digests of upcoming festivals, holidays, and new-moon (crescent) dates, the daily verse, and prayer-time reminders or alarms — that are built and scheduled entirely on your device from the calendar data bundled in the App. The App does not use Firebase Cloud Messaging or any server to send these reminders, and no device token or personal data is generated, stored, or transmitted. On Android 13 and newer the App asks for notification permission first; you can deny it, or turn reminders off at any time in your device settings.

Permissions

The App may request the following permissions:

The App does not request access to your camera, contacts, microphone, or precise location.

Children's privacy

The App is suitable for all ages. It has no accounts and collects personal information only if someone actively chooses to send feedback, so it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
